Mill Pool Hill

B14 Grid reference SP078795

Millpool Hill lies on the Alcester Road South where it first crosses Chinn Brook and then the Stratford Canal. The brook powered Monyhull Mill whose mill pool was dammed by a raised section of the Alcester Road. There was a watermill here belonging to the manor of Monyhull from the 13th century. Mill Pool Hill is recorded on the 1831 Ordnance Survey map and was also used of a nearby dairy farm, Millpool Hill Farm, which stood on the Alcester Road South opposite Glenavon Road. Housing was built by the City Council on its farmland after the Second World War.
