Gorsey Bank
B44 - Grid reference SP074925
A location near the junction of College Road and Kingstanding Road is shown on the 1834 Ordnance Survey map as Gorsey Bank. The name probably derives from gorst, the medieval name for gorse or
furze, a shrub which survives on quick-draining land that is often less suitable for agriculture. The site has never been built on and is now the location of Birmingham City University playing
fields.
