Spring Vale, Lee Bank
B15 - Grid reference SP067855
The spring which gives name to Spring Street off Lee Bank Middleway was culverted to run into the sewers in the late 19th century; it produced 100 000 litres of water per hour discharging from the Birmingham sandstone ridge which lies over impervious clay. A stream from the spring ran down to the River Rea near Gooch Street and formed part of the boundary between Birmingham and Edgbaston.
